Financial Aid Workshop at Jenkins High School.
On Thursday, February 11, 2010 we are hosting an evening financial aid workshop at 6:00 p.m. and we will have a representative from Armstrong Atlantic State University. On Friday, February 12, 2010 we will have a morning workshop at 8:30 a.m. and we will have a representative from Savannah State University. Both workshops will begin in the multipurpose room on campus. We are requesting your presence so you and your children will be informed about the financial aid process.
It's Business for Education Job Shadow Day (formerly Groundhog Job Shadow Day) time! All interested students in good standing in the areas of academics (at least 2.0 average), attendance (does not exceed the days required per HVJ/BOE Policy), conduct (administrators' approval), and serious about their interested career path to room 52 to pick up an application. Applications are available in room 52 between 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. and after school between 3:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Additionally, students can obtain applications from Jill Simoniz in guidance during lunch or a time designated by Ms. Simoniz. Please do not send students during instructional time. The deadline to submit completed applications to Mrs. VanEllison in room 52 is Monday, March 1, 2010. Information regarding orientation will be announced after the applications have been screened and students have been approved to participate. Students must have transportation to and from the assigned site.
A representative from Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, FL will be at Jenkins HS on February 18th at 11:00 a.m. to meet with interested seniors and will stay for at least the first 2 lunches. They will provide admissions decisions on the spot and may award some scholarships as well. Also, because it is a private institution they do not charge out of state tuition.
